As Voice Over Artists, this is easier said than done. Especially when we’re constantly running from audition to audition, and meeting to meeting. And when we’re running, we often forget to take a moment to step back… and breathe. If you find yourself racing from place to place and that your mind is still racing when you’re at your next audition, it’s time to take a pause.
Here’s a helpful exercise to get you centered:
1- Breathe in for 5 seconds.
2- Hold your breath for 5 seconds.
3- Exhale for 5 seconds.
4- Hold your breath for 5 seconds.
5- Repeat cycle at least two more times.
A couple of things will happen: You will feel a sense of calm and peace, which will help you relax and focus on the task at hand. With mind and body at peace, you’ll be ready to take on your next audition with greater confidence and ease. Try applying this exercise before your next audition and please let me know how it goes.
